About the Training

Private hockey school for performance & fun — for children aged 8 to 17.

Our approach Methodology

Game Intelligence bases its vision on the latest developments in the field of learning and on experiences from other international youth academies such as those in Spain (Barcelona), Germany, Belgium, Canada, and the USA.

Successful didactic methods from these academies and from various scientific studies by many universities around the world are involved. Didactic methods are derived from research in Neurology and Movement Sciences.

Central to our approach is the principle: ‘the game is the teacher’. From the youngest age, players are encouraged to make their own choices in game situations.

Talent is not born! Talent is grown! There are no good or bad players. Everyone can practice with good guidance and make huge progress, especially if you have a passion for the sport! Whoever practices the most in the right way, develops the fastest!

We focus solely on fun, learning a lot, and the experience of success, and we enjoy it right along with the child when they succeed at something they’ve been practicing.

We try to organize it in such a (no-nonsense, practical!) way that all children with a passion for hockey can participate!

What’s on the program Training content

🕐 Your daughter or son receives 1 hour and 15 minutes of fun, high-quality, and educational training. Your child receives what is essentially private training with extra attention to technique, motor skills, and insight.

What does a training session look like?

Start with a game format — warming up depending on age

Observing — error analysis with the kids or individually later

Game format — to address common mistakes

Own exercise invented by the kids — for game enjoyment

Practicing technique / game insight / motor skills — based on last week

Closing game format — with emphasis on game insight, pausing 1-2 times

Evaluating — notepad & homework assignment

Our method How and what we do!

What is the focus of our training sessions?
Fun, Confidence, and Learning!

How do we do that?

Depending on what we want to teach and your child’s experience, groups may occasionally be arranged to ensure the learning environment is optimal.

So you don’t play in the same group every training session and/or exercise
It’s important that you as parents explain this to your child in simple terms
This is important for a successful start
Of course, the coaches will also explain this themselves during training

We look purely at what your child can handle and what feels safe and pleasant for them, so they learn a lot with great pleasure and gain plenty of self-confidence.

The first 5 training sessions:

Normally, your child will need 2 sessions to get used to the new children and coaches. Children find this very fun and they adjust very quickly.

During the first 5 training sessions, we teach new techniques with very little resistance:

Including tricks, passing techniques (including scoring), running with the ball, tackling — in a match environment (game insight = spatial awareness)
New movements are trained in slow motion so they are stored in the motor memory
It often takes 6-8 training sessions before something is reasonably unlearned — that is our experience

The training sessions are therefore not intensive and at a low pace because they will be experiencing and repeating many skills for the first time.

At the end, we always evaluate (super important):

What was difficult at first (felt like a mistake to them) and
What suddenly went better after practicing!

In this way, their self-confidence grows quickly and a calm, safe learning environment is created in which everyone dares to say anything.

The group they play in has therefore become less important
It’s about your individual learning process where we, together with the parents, have a coaching role
It is not important which team you are in at the club (selection / academy / recreational team) — we call that a fixed mindset
But rather whether you are having fun and can learn a lot

Children who understand that have a learning mindset and therefore learn the fastest and get the furthest in their sport.

(Inner drive) for hockey determines how deep you want to go and how far you want to get.

So it doesn’t matter at all which team you play in as long as the child can have the fun they seek and can learn what they want to learn.
